My Work
A small but mighty indie video game studio with contributors from all around the world. Fuelled by a passion for all things gaming, they’re working hard to produce a variety of games for the indie market.
Polyspice Games:
I had a blast working on the trailers for their upcoming game “Bunny Bunker”. It blends city builder-style gameplay in the day and tower defence strategy at night. The cutesy art style feels right at home with other cosy games.
It taught me a lot about Steam marketing. Having a gameplay trailer at the forefront of your Steam page is important, as gamers want to see gameplay, whereas, on YouTube, viewers are more open to cinematics and non-gameplay trailers.
I also did the music for the story trailer! A medley of chiptune tracks to accompany each moment. From the unsettled bunnies cowering in the night to the heroic call to arms of their leader, Captain Cabbage (yes, that is his name).
Shout out to Martin Whiskin for providing his excellent voice over skills to the project!
Matte Cat Media x The Bath House Co:
Mat approached me early in my video editing career when he needed help managing a busy editing workload. One of his main projects is producing content for a community hub in Hackney Wick, London, called “The Bath House”. It’s a melting pot of creatives and businesses who all come together to help each other and the local community.
In particular, one of the main content needs that I helped Mat save time with was an interview series. It’s a great way for the companies and creatives that share the same roof to showcase their work and also how the Bath House has a forward-thinking approach to nurturing business with a focus on community rather than a simple profit motive.
It was also a great project to learn and practise colour grading, as Matte Cat Productions produces high-quality footage shot by cinematographers (not just your average iPhone footage).
Like with any interview series in the world of social media, it needed to be reformatted to fit a vertical style and be slightly shorter for a social media audience.
Repurposing content for all the platforms your audience uses is essential in today's social media climate.
Unfortunately, this website does not have unlimited storage (I wish 😩). If you would like to see more of the interviews, please get in touch and I will be happy to share!
Matte Cat Media x Community Sauna Baths:
One of the biggest presences at The Bath House would be the Community Sauna Baths. People come from all over the UK to visit their London saunas.
Through the interview series, Charlie (Director) showcased how the idea came to be and how it was supported by Neil (the man in charge of The Bath House).
Through the surrounding content, we were able to showcase the brand values and unique aesthetics of the community sauna baths. One notable example would be the Jump/Body piece.
Body positivity and inclusivity are core values of their brand, and the Reel was a quirky, fun way to show that it doesn’t matter what you look like; you’re welcome at their saunas. Oh also… it did really well on Instagram!
By having their marketing manager involved in the whole process, it was easy to ensure everything down to the music was tailored specifically for the audience that they’ve worked hard to cultivate.
Matte Cat Media x Teddy Baden/Atom Gallery:
Outside of The Bath House, I also had the pleasure of collaborating with Matte Cat on an interview and creating content for the “Yes We Can” exhibition at the Atom Gallery, which prominent artist Teddy Baden curated.
Teddy Baden curated an exhibition featuring a wide variety of customised spray paint cans, playing on the words “Yes We Can”. This exhibition was a call to arms, urging artists of all skill levels to create something.
This project marked an exciting foray for me into creating event-focused content rather than individual-focused pieces. Although, the interview did reveal more about Teddy as a curator and his advocacy for the arts.
I enjoyed helping to showcase the different can designs. The gallery format lends itself well to short-form content, as notable designs can feature in their own video.
A personal favourite of mine is the smoking spray can. It was perfectly captured in front of a melancholic day in London.
4N Business Expos (On Tour):
Before they grew and split off from 4N as a whole to start running their own thing, their expos division used to run lots of in-person business expos all throughout the UK.
The problem?
No one knew that they did that.
So…
I worked together with their Head of Events to create content to get the word out about their Barnsley Business Expo.
I also enlisted the help of Nick Field. He’s an actor of many talents. He brought his professional voice acting chops to this professional-focused event.
